Introduction
For
centuries stretching back into the dim corridors of time, asian religions have
spoken of a mystical force called the kundalini. Knowledge of how to awaken
the kundalini, what it does, and what to do after its awakening was a closely
guarded secret among spiritual masters of the east. Those spiritual masters
had very good reasons for keeping secret their knowledge of this power; it is
very easy to hurt yourself very badly with this energy. This monograph records
my understanding of the spiritual path based upon my life experiences with
kundalini awakenings. This treatise has become necessary in general because of
the increased interest in the kundalini and use of sound and light machines
which are capable of awakening the kundalini. In specific, this treatise is
necessary because of the Enlightenment light and sound session I have created
and recorded in the manual Awakening Mind 1.
Kundalini
The
kundalini is a powerful energy that eastern religions say lies coiled at the
base of the spine in humans. The kundalini feels like a warm liquidy magnetic
energy when it rises up the spine. Once awakened, you will find that the
kundalini gradually rises and then slowly subsides within the spine, only to
rise again later on. Each time it rises, it rises further up the spine and
will continue rising and subsiding until it eventually reaches the brain. The
whole process may take months to complete. There are a number of effects of
the rising of this energy. All of these effects are available to those who
have awakened the kundalini. Although you may have to ask for some of these
qualities. It is for these effects that disciples have committed their lives
to raising the kundalini energy over the ages.
1. Bliss:
The
rising of the kundalini is extremely blissful. Most people have experienced
sex. The most common experience to compare another experience to is sex. The
answer that something is better than sex is almost a laughable clich‚. The
kundalini is about 100 time more enjoyable than sex and I am not laughing. It
is much more blissful! The rising of the kundalini is extremely blissful. Most

2. Visions
and Images:
There
are many various visions that appear in the mind once the kundalini has been
awakened. Many disciples of the kundalini have written of visions of the
chakras and various other forms. Some visions are precognitive; some are not.
The most striking vision that ever occurred to me was that of a lovely woman
dressed all in white and gently wafting the sweetest love. Not only could I
see her form, I also felt her texture and smelled her fragrance. She smelled
like the sweetest of roses but more delicate and haunting. Her texture was
like the softest of rose petals. . .very ethereal. There are other visions of
people and places I have had that possessed a quality that made them feel more
real than any sensual impression. It wasn't only that you saw them, or heard
them, or smelled them, but that you felt them with every fiber of your being.
After feeling these visions, impressions from the external world feel dead in
comparison. Many lesser order images also float through the mind of the
disciple. Images of memories from days long past. Images of objects, people,
books, places, and natural scenes delight the mind of the devotee.
3. Awareness
Of The Divine:
When I
awakened the kundalini the first time, there was always a sense of the
nearness of the divine. Very seldom was I able to place a name to the
presence, with the exception of some well known to myself presences (such as
Christ, Yogananda, etc.). The sense of that nearness of the divine was always
a comfort.
4. All
You Ever Wanted:
Almost
every one chases after material objects here and there in the world. Cars,
houses, sex, etc. are quite often sought in a vain attempt to fill some inner
void within the soul. One of the most remarkable feelings I ever experienced
during my experiences with the kundalini was simply the realizations that this
was all I ever wanted. Whenever I wanted anything else, I was looking for a
substitute for the feelings I was experiencing. There was a complete sense of
fullness that satisfies any void within your soul.
5. Purity,
Integration, and the Expansion of the Mind:
I don't
care how religious or pure you are before you awaken the kundalini.
Afterwards, the kundalini begins to really make you clean inside. That feeling
of being made clean is real purity. When you are going through it, it doesn't
feel at all like the sickeningly sweet goodness that many of the religious
members of our society have tried to put forth (Self Righteous Purity). That
kind of goodness feels counterfeit as compared to the real purity of the
genuine spiritual path. I don't care how religious or pure you are before you
awaken the kundalini. Afterwards, the kundalini begins to really make you
clean inside. That feeling of being made clean is real purity. When you are
going through it, it doesn't feel at all like the sickeningly sweet goodness
that many of the religious members of our society have tried to put forth
(Self Righteous Purity). That kind of goodness feels counterfeit as compared
to the real purity of the genuine spiritual path..
One of
the ways the divine accomplishes that purity is through a process known to
psychologists as integration. Integration is a fundamental part of the
spiritual path. Integration is the process of dissolving memories of ugly past
experiences to which the ego has erected barriers. Integration happens when
you become fully aware of a past experience. Integration is much easier to
perform with the kundalini than without. However, there are things hidden deep
inside almost everyone of which the mind could choose to rebel at becoming
aware. It is more risky if you choose not to cooperate with integration while
undergoing enlightenment. Without integration you get disciples like some
televangelists who give voice to spiritual principles, but then are driven to
chase after prostitutes, or scam schemes. With integration you cease to be
driven by past decisions made in response to bad experiences. This process
results in your mind dropping its defenses and expanding its awareness.
6. Intuitional
Knowledge:
It is
hard to say how someone knows things by intuition, however, one of the
strongest experiences I had during the awakening of my kundalini was that of
receiving (revealed) knowledge. It didn't really matter about what; it could
be how to play a physical sport or any other interest, but when I received it,
I either knew with every fiber of my being that it was revealed truth (The
Lessons of Enlightenment) or I knew with my mind that I were being given a
deep insight. The deep insight feelings have stayed with me through the years.

7. Mystical
Powers:
One of
the things you are taught on the spiritual path is how to use psychic powers.
One of the fundamental laws of psychic powers is that you can't influence
psychically that from which you feel separate. By removing the barriers of the
ego and expanding the mind, you begin to lose that sense of separateness from
everything. The other fundamental law of psychic powers is that if your go
around using psychic powers for egotistical purposes, you are glorifying the
ego (limited sense of self) and are setting yourself up to lose the positive
effects of the kundalini and experience a spiritual fall. An absolute must is
to only use exceptional powers when you are directed to by the spirit. After
all, even Christ wouldn't perform for Herod's pleasure, when Herod wanted
Christ to show him he was God!
8. Love
and Protection:
When I
was experiencing the rise of the kundalini, I always felt a deep abiding sense
of being loved and protected. It was almost as if my soul was having a very
deep romance with the divine who looked over and protected me from all harm.
Indeed, I was left with the impression that the only harm that could come to
me was from my own hand. While awakened, these feelings of love and protection
are great at removing fears.
Perils
Of A Kundalini Awakening
The
Kundalini is by definition a high energy state. Every high energy state has
negative side effects if that energy is withdrawn (withdrawal symptoms).
Vitality, for example, is a high energy generally stable state. If vitality if
withdrawn, as in extreme old age, the body become decrepit, weakened and
diseased. Sexual experience is a high energy highly unstable state. Upon
climax, sexual energy is withdrawn and you feel tired, weakened, and lose
interest in sex for a time. Daily vigorousness is a moderate stable generally
high energy state (at least in childhood). When withdrawn at the end of each
day, tiredness and sleep is the result. Any energy state, especially a high
energy state, upon withdrawal of that energy, has withdrawal symptoms. The
kundalini is no exception! The severity of the withdrawal symptoms appear to
be related to how long the kundalini has been active. If you awaken the
kundalini, and only feel the bliss for a few days, and then shut it down, you
may only feel depressed or blue for several days. If the kundalini has been
awakened for several weeks, you will probably experience a spiritual fall that
lasts for several days to a week or more.
The
signs and symptoms of a Spiritual Fall are as follows: 1. A collapse sensation
felt within the mind. 2. A feeling of fear that grows over time. 3. A feeling
of mental anguish or pain that increases over time. 4 Confusion and short term
memory loss. 5. A direct and profound confrontation with suppressed
subconscious material and dissociated self concepts that may result in a
lasting internal conflict or worse. These are all psychological withdrawal
symptoms. I am not a physician, but other than symptoms associated with mental
shock, I have never felt any symptoms I would associate with physical
withdrawal symptoms (shaking, delirium, sweating, etc.) If you survive, most
of these symptoms last for several days and then gradually will get better as
things stabilize. In my mind, it is not at all certain someone in poor health
would survive a really bad fall. A full fledged spiritual fall can be hard on
you physically. However, if you survive, you will probably be left with
recurring anxiety attacks and after a period of time the kundalini will be
trying to burn itself through any psychological block (see Kundalini: The
Evolutionary Energy In Man, by Gopi Krishna). So that's is pretty heavy, isn't
it!
Soon, I
will tell you that no one need ever go through a fall again. However, what I
have described above is exactly why the specifics of this knowledge has been
kept secret for ages. Generally, the knowledge that has been released by those
in the know has been pretty watered down. Any one who wanted enlightenment
from a valid spiritual master had to go through initiation and years of
training. This was to make sure that a disciple really wanted enlightenment
more than anything in the world and that he/she was purified enough so that a
spiritual fall was unlikely to happen by itself. An awakening before this is
what has been termed a premature awakening. What normally shuts the kundalini
down is simply the inability or the unwillingness to keep it going. The
inability to keep it going results from the subconsciousness mind being
unwilling to look at powerful suppressed events. Generally, the subconscious
mind uses external material objects that have previously given pleasure to
displace the pain and memories of an unpleasant event. Integration is a
fundamental part of the kundalini experience.
The
kundalini, like any stimulative energy, will bring up suppressed material and
you have to be willing to let go of that material and any desires (material
attachments) you used to repress it. For this situation, it may be better to
integrate this material before you awaken the kundalini (see Awakening Mind
2). If you are a user of Light and Sound Sessions, you should know that you
can not use another light and sound session without running the risk of
shutting down the kundalini. This is an easy thing to do, but any technology
that can aid in enlightenment can remove enlightenment! Many people wonder if
you can have sex after a kundalini awakening. There have been enlightened
people in India who were either a husband or wife and yet had sex. My
understanding is that it hinders the rising of the kundalini. I think the only
way sex would stop the kundalini is if you really lost yourself in the climax.
You
will also shut the kundalini down if at some point you decide you don't want
to go through it any more and refuse to cooperate with it. Your will is
supreme . . at least in the short run. If you decide against even a force as
strong as the kundalini, you will shut it down. I have described the effects
of the kundalini, if there are some of those effects you don't want, then
don't even think of awakening this force. I have described the effects of a
spiritual fall, if you don't want to risk those effects, then don't even think
about awakening the kundalini. Pass it by and go on with your life. On the
other hand, if you are looking for something deeply rewarding, something
enlivening, and something that causes spiritual and mental evolution,
awakening and enlightenment, then the kundalini experience is for you. These
are the risks that have been run by disciples of the kundalini through the
ages. Technology has changed all of that. The good news is that many if not
all of the effects of a spiritual fall are reversible with the help of light
and sound sessions if caught in time. Preexisting psychological conditions
aggravated by a fall are not reversible without further integrative work. No
one need ever go through what I have described above. I have included full
instructions on how to awaken the kundalini and how to stop a spiritual fall
in the Awakening Mind 1 manual.
Awakening
the Kundalini
Natural
Method
Although
this method is not the only way to do it, the following method is the one with
which I am most familiar. In general, to awaken the kundalini naturally, two
things are necessary. You must be able to enter a deep meditative trance state
and when you do, you must have enough residual energy so that the kundalini
will naturally awaken. This is accomplished using the following methods. The
first part of this process is to enter a deep meditative trance state. While
lying down, take slow deep breaths through your nose. You don't want to become
over stimulated while doing this, so don't breath too fast. While you are
doing this gently concentrate on your breathing. If your mind wanders and you
stop deep breathing, don't let it bother you, just resume again. Eventually,
you will slip into a trance state. It is not likely that you will raise the
kundalini while lying down. However, this practice is extremely important in
learning how to enter the trance state. The trance state always feels like
less time has elapsed than actually has elapsed. However, there are varying
degrees of depth to the trance state. Occasionally, you will be aware while in
trance. During this experience, time feels like it has been suspended.
Sometimes, you will not be aware while in trance; at these times, you will
experience a sort of missing time. Once you have mastered the trance state
while lying down, you are ready to go to practicing it while sitting up with
your back as straight as you can. While practicing the following techniques
don't strain and perform them in a quiet, secluded place. If necessary take
your phone off the hook and put the kids to bed.
I
suggest you start by practicing a yoga breathing technique called "alternate
nostril breathing." Alternate nostril breathing calms the mind and energizes
the third eye chakra. Alternate nostril breathing is performed in the
following manner. Rest the base of the palm of your right hand on your chin
and your three middle fingers on your forehead; if necessary rest your elbow
on a table. Gently press closed your left nostril with your little finger and
breath in through your right nostril. Now, close your right nostril with your
thumb, and slowly breath out through your left nostril. Next, breath in
through your left nostril, while your thumb holds the right nostril closed.
Finally, breath out through you right nostril while your left nostril is held
closed by your little finger. Repeat the process over and over until your mind
clears of thoughts and is relaxed. Once your mind is quiet and relaxed rest
your hands on your lap or a table and start slow deep breathing through your
nose. Eventually, you will slip into a meditative trance state. If you have
enough residual energy from the breathing exercises, your third eye or crown
chakra will awaken, you will see brilliant flashes of light in your mind, be
brought instantly out of trance state, and feel alot of bliss. While
practicing any of the above exercises, you should feel no strain at all. Sit
against the side of your bed or in a chair to relax you back if you need to.
Don't force yourself to breath in or out rapidly. If any of your muscles feel
tense, consciously try to relax them. If your mind is restless keep doing the
alternate nostril breathing, but don't force your mind to be calm. Personally,
I much prefer the following artificial method. You have much more control over
your mental state and can compensate for a fall, if it should occur. Whether
the kundalini will awaken with the natural method is hit or miss. It depends
upon how much energy exists within you when you enter trance state, how
straight your back is, and how complete a trance state you enter. With the
artificial method, you have exact control over your energy state. However,
with the artificial method, you must have access to a computer, light and
sound machine, or a tape player.
Artificial
Method
The
kundalini is easily awakened using light and sound sessions. Indeed it is only
the sound portion of light and sound sessions that is needed to awaken the
kundalini. The principle involved is quite simple. All you have to do is to
use a session to put yourself into a very deep trance like state and then
stimulate the mind. Nothing is easier to do with a light and sound session.
This works is because the trance like state removes the ego's barriers and the
stimulation awakens the kundalini. This is equivalent to saying that the
trance state unlocks the door, and the stimulation open it. After the door is
open it is up to you to follow through. The session will awaken automatically
the kundalini, however you have to be ready to commit to its rising. The
following frequencies are the ones used within the enlightenment session:
Stage 1
& 3
257
250
236
243
Stage 2
261
254
233
240
Stage 1
& 3 provides the trance state. Stage 2 provides the stimulation. There are a
great many things that you need to know before you can begin to successfully
use this session: durations, waveform, volume, filters, exact practice, what
to do if the trance state doesn't take, etc. All of these things, plus who
should or should not use light and sound session, what to expect to occur at
various frequencies, how to write effective sessions, and much more is
explained in the Awakening Mind manual listed within the back of this
monograph. The effects of either the trance or the stimulative state taken
separately wear off after a couple of days. After that time it is all your
energy and you must either do what it takes to keep the kundalini going or
resist it and shut it down. The next section is all about keeping the
kundalini going.
Riding
The Kundalini
The way
to ride the kundalini is to pay its price. The price of the kundalini is not
demanded of you, it is simply asked. It is always your decision whether you
will give that price or not. . .Always. The price of the kundalini is very
simple. Every time you feel the blissful effects of the kundalini simply loose
yourself in it, no matter what. This is the same as saying that you give
complete devotion to the Spirit of God, nothing more, nothing less. What
primarily is asked of any disciple of the kundalini is simply that you
surrender yourself to it and loose yourself in it (as you might loose yourself
in a good movie at a theater). Also, when the spirit within you asks you to do
something; simply do it. I doubt very much that you will be asked to do
anything harmful. However, the fundamental price of the kundalini is that you
lose the ego within it and fully cooperate with it to the best of your
ability. Render unto God, that which is God's (who you are and what you are
devoted to (what you want)). It is that simple. Eventually, you will be asked
to let go of any material desires or attachments that blocks full awareness.
What will be shown to you in return is that you are not who you thought you
were and that what you thought you wanted, wasn't what you wanted at all.
Postlog
The
kundalini changes everything. It can alter your life forever. The kundalini is
the awakening of true spirituality in humans. It is not without risks, but
then nothing in life is. It is however the most remarkable and fulfilling
journey you will ever take. I have written this monograph as an aid to those
who have, are, or will undergo a kundalini awakening. It is meant to be a
reference work to keep any serious student on track and to honestly inform
anyone thinking about taking this journey. I wish you all of the best in your
spiritual journeys.
Sincerely,
Enlightened Enterprises
About
the Author
I have
undergone 6 or 7 kundalini awakenings during my life time. After the first
awakening at age 15-16 in the spring of 1969, I have spent much of my life
exploring the ins and outs of the kundalini and the spiritual path. In 1992, I
wrote the Awakening Mind 1 manual that details how to use light and sound
sessions to create natural and altered states of mind (OOBEs, and Kundalini
states, etc.) Altered states and light and sound sessions are my passion. I
don't think of myself as a guru (dispeller of darkness). A guru quite often is
the path (as Christ said "I am the way, the truth, and the life"). I am rather
a teacher of what I know. I am one who has found the doorway and the key and
simply points it out and helps others who want to open it and walk through.
