Spiritual Enlightenment and Darwinian Evolution

In the 19th century, a very great man did a great deal of research and realized that the multitude of forms of life on this planet have and continue to change in a process called Darwinian Evolution. The introduction of this theory evoked a great outcry against it in religious circles.

Many very religious people continue to have strong feelings against this theory and profess not to believe in this process. Whether or not you believe in the process of evolution, take a few minutes to examine the theory.

The theory of Darwinian Evolution can be broken down into several subparts that flow to an inevitable conclusion. These subparts are:

1. There is a struggle for existence happening in this biosphere. This world is just not capable of supporting every organism that is born here. There is a limited availability of food, living space, and reproduction resources.

2. Individuals within any species differ from each other and possess a genetic diversity. You don't possess the same physical attributes as the next person, and don't have exactly the same talents as they do (creativity, rational ability, feelings, intensity of various drives, etc.)

3. When subparts one and two are combined, individuals with different talents and physical attributes are thrown into a struggle for existence against each other and use those talents to gain an edge in that struggle to survive and reproduce... The result of this competition means that those individuals with the best talents and physical attributes survive to reproduce and pass on their traits to their offspring.

This is the survival of the fittest. Not survival of the strongest...many, many talents that enable an individual to survive have nothing to do with strength....cunning for instance...rational thought for another. Humanity can arguably be said to be the dominant species on this planet because of their ability to creatively think about the best way to survive.

4. Given that those individuals who survive will pass on the talents necessary to survive to their offspring. Over time these abilities will be naturally selected and possessed by a greater number of the population. In other word, certain traits will be naturally selected and the species will evolve to promote those traits.

Now, this theory is quite frankly brutal in its implications! Never the less, if you believe in the subparts of this theory, you believe in Darwinian Evolution whether you admit it or not. Darwinian Evolution is an observed fact! It is quite pointless to believe or not believe in this theory. It has been observed in the everyday world over and over again in various species. It has been observed many, many times in the fossil record. It is undisputable that the evolution of species exists! In fact it, has only one small problem. It can not explain everything!

Spiritual Enlightenment is a psycho-physiological process. That means that the process of Spiritual Enlightenment has both a physical and a mental part. In fact, modern day science, can perform tests that indicate that a person is undergoing the process of Spiritual Enlightenment. Now any scientist can argue that the psychological effects of the Enlightenment process are hallucinations. Addressing that argument is fodder for another article, I wont address it here. However there are electrical patterns in the brain that are used to make a diagnosis of this condition. In other words, Spiritual Enlightenment has physical components!

Spiritual Enlightenment has very great potential for anyone who uses it to enable that person to both survive and to reproduce and to do so quite easily. Most of the population of this planet is capable of undergoing the Enlightenment process. I have never heard of any person who can not be stimulated....and have heard of very few capable of experiencing a trance state. If you combine those two states, you have awakened the process of Spiritual Enlightenment.

Very few people in the past have undergone the process of Enlightenment, so while it is capable of enabling the survival of an individual long enough for that person to reproduce and bring their offspring to maturity. It has not been used for that purpose by any great number of people. Now this brings us to the problem of Darwinian Evolution. For an individual species to evolve a talent; that talent must be conducive to survival and reproduction, and be used for that; or it must be a consequence of some trait that is useful for survival and reproduction and is used for that purpose.

Spiritual Enlightenment is started by two distinct mental states, stimulation and deep trance. It is very easy to see that stimulation is very useful for both survival and reproduction, so it will be dismissed here. A deep trance state serves neither the purpose of reproduction nor of survival. For one reason, a deep trance state is not conducive to attracting a mate. Secondly, it is not a trait associated with survival. Hence it is a trait that can not be directly selected for by Darwinian Evolution. So the question comes to: can a deep trance state be a consequence of some other state? Unless a deep trance state is a consequence of some other as yet unseen trait useful for either survival or reproduction, Spiritual Enlightenment can not be selected for by Darwinian Evolution.

While Spiritual Enlightenment is effective in enhancing survival and reproduction, it has not ever been used for that purpose by a significant percentage of the human species population! And that is a big problem! If the ability of a species to undergo a certain process has not ever been used for that purpose by a significant percentage of the population of that species or is not a consequence of some other trait that is useful, the trait will not be selected to be passed down to that species' progeny! In other word, humanity should have no ability to undergo this process of awakening! Hence Darwinian Evolution was in all likelihood not responsible for humanity's ability to awaken spiritually!

Well that brings us to the question of where humanity acquired this ability, and this is a very speculative part of this article. Where could this ability have come from? No doubt many skeptics will say it doesn’t exist...however science has already recognized it. Many sci-fi fans could point to a 2001 A Space Odyssey scenario where advance civilizations came down and specifically caused evolution so that man would one day take his place in the stars. UFO fans might say that this process was cause by aliens genetically mutating humanity. Others might say it is just a hyperactive imagination...but this process is far, far beyond that. Well you could go on and on with speculating about where the ability came from, however there is one very obvious explanation.

During this process, there is one undisputable fact, each and every person experiences a perception of the Divine and of his own higher self. There is no reason to look beyond the fact that this ability promotes the ability to perceive spiritual forces. Hence, the most obvious cause of the development of this ability belongs to the Divine. In other words, the Hand of God or mankind's own higher spiritual self has acted at some point in the past to give mankind a uniqueness among animals in this world...the ability to undergo Spiritual Evolution through the process of Enlightenment! One thing is certain, all of mankind is poised to take a radical next step in evolution, and it is one that will change the nature of this world!
